3rd Grade Classroom Syllabus 

Course Overview:
Welcome to 3rd grade! This year, students will develop strong skills in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. Lessons will include hands-on activities, group projects, technology integration, and opportunities for critical thinking and problem solving. Our goal is to create a safe and engaging learning environment where every student can succeed.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the year, students will be able to:

Read and comprehend grade-level texts with fluency and accuracy.

Write complete sentences, paragraphs, and short essays with proper grammar and punctuation.

Solve addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems with confidence.

Conduct simple science experiments and understand basic scientific concepts.

Demonstrate understanding of local and national history and geography.

Use technology responsibly for learning and research.

Grading Policy:

Homework: 20% – Assignments reinforce classroom learning and should be completed on time.

Classwork & Participation: 20% – Active engagement and collaboration in class activities.

Quizzes: 25% – Short assessments to check understanding of topics.

Tests & Projects: 35% – Major assessments, projects, and presentations.

Materials Needed:

Notebook, pencils, erasers, and crayons/markers

Folder or binder for organization

School-assigned Chromebook or tablet

Reading books and homework planner

Classroom Expectations:

Respect yourself, others, and classroom materials.

Follow directions the first time they are given.

Be prepared for class with all materials.

Complete assignments on time and give your best effort.

Ask questions and participate in discussions.

Specials Schedule:

PE, Music, Art, and Library rotate weekly. Check the daily schedule for specific times.
